Wayne Schepens applies extensive cybersecurity expertise to his role as managing director of LaunchTech Communications. His professional background combines technical knowledge with strategic business acumen, developed through positions in both the private and public sectors. He holds a master's degree in systems engineering from Virginia Tech and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the State University of New York Maritime College. Wayne Schepens maintains active involvement in the cybersecurity community as a CyberMaryland board member and as a Maryland TedCo investment plan evaluator.
Mr. Schepens’ contributions to his field include co-founding the UMBC CyberHive and serving on the SINET ITSEF Steering Committee. He has received recognition through the Superior Civilian Service Award and the Apgar Award, and served as a visiting fellow at West Point. His professional activities include regular speaking engagements on topics such as cyber threat intelligence, big data, malware, and risk management. He has maintained a consistent presence at major industry events, attending RSA and Black Hat conferences for two decades.
Beyond his professional commitments, Wayne Schepens engages in mentoring entrepreneurs, career counseling, and supporting organizations including the American Heart Association and Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE).
